PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers lost their first ACC matchup of the season, falling to Georgia Tech 26-21 in Week 5.

The loss was pushed by turnovers, lack of turnovers on defense and drive-killing penalties throughout the game. The Panthers finished the night with five flags resulting in a loss of 45 yards, and head coach Pat Narduzzi is ready to fix that.

Narduzzi said after the game that he'll look at the tape and evaluate what exactly went wrong for Pitt. But when it comes to the penalty issues, he's ready to bench players for those who are going to play clean football.

"We’ve got to get the right guys that we can trust that aren't going to do that," Narduzzi said. "We had a couple guys out there that got some penalties. And they have done it in the past. And we'll have to find replacements for them if they can't do it the right way. And then there were a couple, you know, you question, but we got to do a better job. Get the right guys on the field."

Pitt made a number of changes along the offensive line with injuries to Carter Warren and Owen Drexel. With two new members starting you'd expect some problems up front, but Narduzzi said the line played well, and he's still looking at the penalties as a serious point of emphasis.

"Not having Carter Warren out there, yeah, you know, always affects you," Narduzzi said. "But that ain't the reason why. Turnovers are the reason why. I can't sit here and say it's because of that. Next man up. Didn't affect us when Nate Yarnell was in. We made plays. And it can't affect you, period. We got a lot of trust and faith in Branson Taylor and we got to go.

"Would you like your starting five out there? Yes. But you're down two starters on the O-line. We trust those other guys to go make plays, but we just didn't get it done."

Pitt will return to Acrisure Stadium in Week 6 to host Virginia Tech. Some lineup changes could come before kickoff.
