BSF seizes 26 kg of heroin worth Rs 130 cr from Punjab Border :Spokesperson

Jalandhar, Dec 17 (UNI) Border Security Force on Friday early morning thwarted an attempt by the Pakistani smugglers of pushing huge quantities of drugs into the Indian Territory through Punjab Border and recovered 26 kg of heroin in one instance. A spokesperson of the Punjab Frontier Headquarter of the BSF here said Friday the alert troops of the BSF seized 25 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin from the area of responsibility of 66th Bn of the BSF in Abohar sector. He said Friday that the alert troops of the BSF observed suspicious movements of some miscreant ahead of the Border security Fence and challenged them following which they fled towards the Pakistan Territory. The BSF troops carried out a thorough search operation in the area during which 25 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin weighing 26 kg, wrapped with yellow coloured adhesive tape stuffed inside the PVC pipe, two shawls and a piece of about 15 meter long navy blue cloth tied in knots was recovered from a farming field ahead of the border security fence, he added.
