A multiple car collision in Hampden on Thursday night caused a car to crash into Soudabscook Stream, killing two people.

Hampden Public Safety Director Chris Bailey said the accident occurred before 10:00 on Thursday night, near the intersection of Main Road North and Coldbrook Road. Those killed in the crash were 22-year-old Christian Brobberg of Winterport and 23-year-old Taylor Wheaton of Hampton.

Officials reported that the incident started when a Kia car driven by 37-year-old Laura Brissette of Hamptons turned left into Main Road North from Coldbrook Road. As she turned a corner, a Subaru driving south lost control on the top of the mountain and crashed into a Kia. Subaru climbed over the fence and fell into the Sudabscook Stream. The water level was high enough that the vehicle was submerged, and it stayed there for several hours before being found.

Officials eventually found the vehicle and two men whose bodies were located hundreds of yards away.

An investigation into the circumstances that led to the crash is ongoing. The Hampton Police was assisted by the Maine State Police, the Maine State Penitentiary Administration, the Maine Marine Patrol and Bangor Fire Department at the scene.

There is no news yet, whether anyone was injured or the details of how the crash happened.

As more details emerge, we will update this story.
