Life Hack: Three Christmas decoration and packaging tips to start the season easily

It is December, so we are officially allowed to talk about renovating the house. Although most of us have our own Christmas decoration practices and traditions, there are certainly areas where it can be made easier. After all, this is the best time of the year, so why should you feel pressured for small things?

Hang the wreath on your door

This is not news to many people, but if you have a PVC front door, you may not want to nail nails in and hang wreaths for a few weeks. You have several options to find a solution that will make your entrance look popular at Christmas without compromising the structural integrity of the door. One option is to repair something like a command hook in front of the door. These easy-to-remove hooks come in a variety of sizes, and some are specially designed for Christmas wreaths. If you don't want to buy a new hook every year, this is what I did: fix a hook inside your door. Turn it upside down and put a long rope on your wreath. You should be able to put the rope on the top of the door and fasten it to the hook so that the decoration can stay on the door. After Christmas is over, turn the hook up correctly-it's great to hang your hat on it so you don't forget it when you go out.

Make a fireplace out of a cardboard box

If you live in an apartment or a house without a chimney, children may worry that Santa Claus will find his way to the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. Although we all know that Santa’s magic will find a way, a simple alternative is to collect some cardboard boxes and tape them together or nail them into the shape of a fireplace. Find some wrapping paper that looks like bricks (or splash on brick-looking wallpaper) and cover the box. Now that you have a holiday fireplace to decorate, your kids don’t have to worry about Santa Claus coming in. It is also very light, can be moved around, and can be disassembled and reused next year.

If you want to be more environmentally conscious when packing gifts this Christmas, why not make your own gift tags instead of buying more? This is especially great if you keep holding old Christmas cards-the front of these cards can be cut so that you have a holiday design on one side and a blank side on the other side, where you can write the gift recipient’s Name and information. Or, if you have a photo printer, why not print a credit card-sized photo of you and the person who received the gift and write the information on the other side. This is practical and thoughtful, they will have a precious photo that can be kept forever.
