On Tuesday, a large-scale outage of Amazon's Internet services affected some of the state Motor Vehicle Commission's telephone services.

Amazon Web Services provides cloud computing services to many companies as well as individuals, universities and governments. It said it had identified the "root cause" of the problem early on Tuesday afternoon, which made many websites and applications unavailable.

NJ MVC said that the biggest impact of this problem is its callback function. No other national agency reported the problem.

According to a report from the Associated Press, AWS stated that it was “actively working to recover,” which said it was also affected by the power outage.

Doug Madory, director of internet analysis at Kentik Inc, a cyber intelligence company, said that the outage began at noon on the East Coast of the United States... "AWS is the largest cloud provider, and us-east-1 is their largest data center. Therefore, Any interruption there will have a significant impact on many popular websites and other Internet services," he said.

People who try to use apps and services such as Venmo, Instacart, Roku, and Disney+ have reported issues.

The website downdetector.com has also received reports of problems with Amazon devices, including Alexa, Kindle and Ring, and Uber Eats.
