Actor, woodcutter and beard grower Nick Offerman has officially played Bill in HBO's upcoming adaptation of "The Last of Us."

According to "Variety", Overman played Bill because Chernobyl actor Kang O'Neill withdrew from the role due to schedule conflicts. But when a door is closed, a window will open. Now it's hard to imagine that the grumpy character of the naughty dog's zombie apocalypse was not portrayed by Offerman.

Overman’s most famous work is the role of Ron Swanson in the NBC simulated sitcom "Parks and Recreation". This role is the perfect audition tape for Bill. In the seven seasons of this Emmy-nominated show, Offerman's dry humor and majestic demeanor made it easy for him to play Joel's stingy zombie apocalypse partner. In addition, it doesn't hurt that actors are craftsmen in real life. Despite being a woodworking type, they may not build the cruel mechanical booby trap that Bill surrounded himself in "The Last of Us".

Actor Murray Bartlett, who will play Bill's lover Frank, also seems to share the excitement of Overman casting. In an interview with The Guardian, the Chernobyl actor talked about the time he was filming the show in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and said that the collaboration with Overman was “awesome”. Given that Frank has never appeared in the game (alive) and is only mentioned through dialogue and diary entries, it is nice to see how the two interact in the series.

Overman joined the ranks of other Hollywood actors, such as Pedro Pascal of The Mandalorian and Bella Ramsey of Game of Thrones, who will play Joel and Ellie. The cast of the HBO series also includes some actors in the game. Merle Dandridge will replay the role of Firefly Commander Marlene. Although actor Gabriel Luna will play Joel’s brother Tommy in the series, Jeffrey Pierce, who plays Tommy in the game, has been transformed into a new role named Perry.

The HBO series was written and executed by Chernobyl writer Craig Mazin and TLoU director Neil Druckman. Broadly speaking, the series appears to be an adaptation of the events of the first game, although writer Mazin promised that, according to GameSpot, the series will not be a "beat-by-beat retelling of the game." HBO’s adapted version still has no expected release date, so we have to fill our time by making a meme that Bill cracks Ron Swanson’s joke. I believe Ellie will be very grateful.
