Rochester, Minnesota (KROC AM News)-Legal officials from the Rochester area helped spread some holiday joy on Saturday.

The local Shop With A Cop event was held at the North Wal-Mart store, and officials from the Rochester Police Department, Olmsted County representatives and other nearby agencies participated.

A total of 55 officials participated in the 18th annual event. RPD said the police paired up with the children for an afternoon of holiday shopping. Each child will receive a $110 gift card to buy gifts for the family. They also enjoyed lunch and gift wrapping.

RPD said: “This holiday tradition not only adds a festive atmosphere to families in need, it also helps the police establish a positive relationship with the children. A win-win situation.”
